Restaurants at Hideaway Bay

Hideaway Bay is a quiet, peaceful settlment 40 minutes from Airlie Beach with a few permanent residents and holiday homes. It can feel like the end of the earth but there is two lovely restaurants that cater for visitors and residents alike and you can make a day out of visiting either one.

Montes Reef Resort

Cuisine: seafood & pub eats

Open: 7 days a week 12-2pm (lunch) and 6-8pm (dinner)

Location: 2248 Gloucester Passage, Hydeaway Bay

Phone: 07 4945 7177

This local’s secret might be a little out of the way, but it’s well worth the drive from Airlie that ventures slightly off the beaten track!

You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy lunch at the secluded, desert-island feeling Montes Reef Resort, but a booking is a must. Tuck into some fish and chips right on the beach at Cape Gloucester, then work it off with a lazy stroll and dip in the turquoise waters.

Serves: lunch, dinner and drinks
