One of the biggest events of the year is the Great Barrier Reef Festival in August which celebrates living in the heart of the reef and brings together fashion, food and plenty of family fun, with games and competitions for the whole family. There is also a classic car display, parties, live music and the ‘famous’ Saturday afternoon street parade.
The sailing season is heralded by two great events on the yachting calendar in August – Airlie Beach Race Week Festival of Sailing and Hamilton Island Race Week.
